Bonhoff champions Reus cause

Borussia Moenchengladbach vice-president Rainer Bonhoff believes Marco Reus deserves to appear for Germany at Euro 2012.

Reus, 23, played a pivotal part in Gladbach's successful Bundesliga campaign last season, which ended with the club securing a Champions League playoff berth.

He is yet to make so much as a substitute appearance for Germany at the European Championships, and Bonhoff wants the promising forward to be given a chance.

"Marco deserves a chance," he told Bild.

"Jogi (Joachim) Loew can bring him on with no reservations. Marco has had an outstanding season for Borussia (Monchengladbach)," Bonhof told Bild.

Reus, who will complete a transfer to Borussia Dortmund in the close season, has spoken publicly of his frustration at not being involved, but was keen to remain positive for the good of the team.

"For me, it is brutally hard to sit on the bench and not play a part. This situation is totally unusual for me," Reus told DFB.de.

"If one thinks he has spread a bad mood then he is out of place here. In the national team we all pull together.

"It is not in my nature to mope around for a long time. I am looking forward and hope that my time will come."

Germany will face Greece on Friday in the quarter-finals of Euro 2012.
