Rummenigge plots Bayern triumph

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says the club are determined to end their wait for a first major trophy since 2010.

The Bavarian club ended the 2011/12 campaign empty handed, finishing second in the Bundesliga, losing the DFB-Pokal final to Borussia Dortmund and suffering a heart-breaking home defeat on penalties in the Champions League against Chelsea.

Rummenigge said Bayern's goal is to end their two-year barren streak, and backed new sporting director Matthias Sammer to have an impact.

"Our goal is clear: we want to win titles," he told Bild.

"He (Sammer) has our full support. He has a place in his heart for Bayern and he is very responsible."

Rummenigge went on to suggest there could be more arrivals at the club before the end of the transfer window.

"The transfer window is open until August 31. If Jupp Heynckes and Matthias Sammer think that we need more players, we will deal with it."
