Talks ongoing over Liverpool stadium plans

3 julio 2012 16:55

Liverpool's stadium hopes were given a boost after it was revealed they had been given more time to decide whether or not to stay at Anfield.

Liverpool council had initially given the club a July deadline in the hope of ending months of uncertainty over John W Henry's plans.

But at a meeting late last month, the club informed the council it was still not ready to make an announcement.

The council, although keen to see progress, agreed to relax the deadline and allow more time to be taken.

Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson told the Liverpool Echo: "We are in regular meetings with Liverpool FC and we are working with the club.

"It's frustrating for the local residents and they are my main concern.

"We are pushing for a speedy resolution to the issue of whether the club stays at Anfield or goes to Stanley Park but we are encouraged by the discussions."

It is understood no new deadline has been set, but the club have shared plans with the council showing either the long mooted move to Stanley Park or a redeveloped Anfield.
