Persepolis close in on Jose

2 julio 2012 07:12

Tehran giants Persepolis are close to an agreement with former Benfica and Sporting Lisbon coach Manuel Jose according to Iranian reports.

The Tehran Times reports the 66-year-old, who is one of the main candidates for the vacant position following Mustafa Denizli's resignation along with former Argentina international Gabriel Calderon and ex-Senegal boss Bruno Metsu, has agreed terms with Persepolis.

Jose, who recently coached in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, could be unveiled as the club's new coach as early as Monday.

The Portuguese, who has more than 30 years of coaching experience, last guided Egyptian club Al Ahly until May and is now free to join a new club.

Many have been linked with Persepolis' coaching job after Denizli quit the club for personal reasons, with the club's sporting director Ali Parvin also considered as a replacement according to The Tehran Times.

Denizli left the club after a miserable season for the Iranian giants, in which they finished the league campaign in 12th place.
