Round 22 of the Serie A is in doubt as heavy snowfalls threaten to disrupt or postpone the league programme.
Four midweek league matches were postponed after some of the worst winter weather in recent years played havoc with fixtures.
League leaders Juventus were one of the clubs affected, with their match at Parma a casualty on Tuesday.
If the fixture list survives the bleak forecast, Juve can extend their one-point lead when they take on struggling Siena on Sunday.
New signings Martin Caceres and Simone Padoin could make their debuts.
AC Milan, hot on Juve's heels in second place, face a tough home task against Napoli.
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani wants the Napoli match postponed with temperatures set to plummet to below minus 10 degrees.
"All the weather forecasts for the next few days predict hazardous weather conditions, the likes of which have not been seen in Milan for 27 years,'' Galliani wrote in an open letter to league president Maurizio Beretta.
"In these conditions I strongly believe that playing a game ... would be very much more than unsuitable."
Kick-offs in the AC Milan v Napoli and Roma v Inter Milan fixtures have already been moved forward to Sunday at 3pm.
Third-placed Udinese will look to keep in touch with Juve when they travel to Fiorentina, who have an impressive home record of five wins.
Cellar-dwellars Novara will hope to give themselves a fighting chance of escaping relegation when they faces Cagliari. The other two teams in the drop zone, Lecce and Cesena, are level on 16 points, three from safety.
Lecce host Bologna and Cesena and Catania meet in other lower table encounters.
In other matches, Genoa play Lazio, Chievo Verona meet Parma and Palermo tackle Atalanta.
