Sao Paulo missed a chance to move to the top of the Campeonato Paulista table after a 1-1 draw with Guarani.
Corinthians top the table with four wins from as many matches but they could have been overtaken by Emerson Leao's side had they won their clash on Thursday.
It was not to be though, with Jose Fumagalli's strike in the first minute giving Guarani an early lead.
And although Willian Jose responded seven minutes before half-time, the scores remain tied for the rest of the match.
Santos also drew 1-1 at home, with the winless Oeste picking up a valuable away point.
Wanderson scored the opener for Oeste just before half-time but they were denied a win after half-time substitute Ibson levelled the scoreline with 19 minutes remaining.
