ST PETERSBURG, May 1 (SW) - Zenit St Petersburg are the first finalists of this year's UEFA Cup tournament, having crushed favorites Bayern Munich 4-0 in Russia.

The first leg had a 1-1 result, which meant that Bayern now had the task of scoring at least one goal.

The Germans never managed to do so though, while Zenit showed to be this season's biggest revelation in European cup football.

Pogrebnyak opened the score for the home side after just four minutes, and Ziryanov added a second in the 38th.

When Zenit got another through Faizulin in the 53rd minute, Bayern knew that their European campaign was over. Pogrebnyak netted his second of the night in the 73rd minute.

The 4-0 defeat is Bayern's worst in more than six years. On January 26th, 2002, the Bavarians lost 5-1 to Schalke in a Bundesliga game.

Zenit meanwhile, will face either Fiorentina or Glasgow Rangers in the final on May 14th.
