Sporting Clube de Portugal midfielder Marat Izmailov will miss Russia's friendly against Romania in Bucharest after deciding to stay in Lisbon where his wife and daughter are recovering from illness.

"I've spoken to coach Guus Hiddink and he understood my decision," said Izmailov. "I really wanted to play in Bucharest, as I haven't played for the national team in 18 months. Still, I hope to make the squad for UEFA EURO 2008™." Hiddink will not call up a replacement for Izmailov.
