GRONINGEN, Apr 13 (SW) - The match between FC Groningen and Ajax Amsterdam has been suspended as result of small fires at Euroborg stadium this afternoon.

Just when the players entered the pitch for their match preparation, rolls of toilet paper that had been thrown down by some fans caught fire.

The fire quickly spread to several parts of the stands, forcing the crowd to find their way outside or onto the pitch. A few were taken to hospital, though apparently there were no serious injuries.

At 15:30 local time, an hour after the official start of the match, it was announced that the game will definitely not be played today.

This means that PSV Eindhoven will need to win their match against FC Twente to secure the championship today. Otherwise, a draw or loss for Ajax would also have decided the trophy battle.
