LONDON (AFP) - Joe Cole believes Chelsea are in perfect shape to finally shake off their tag as the Champions League's serial underachievers.

The Blues face Olympiakos in the second leg of their last 16 tie at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday with a full-strength squad for almost the first time this season.

With John Terry and Frank Lampard back from injury and all the club's African stars available after international duty, boss Avram Grant has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal.

Cole, who was controversially left out of the starting line-up for the League Cup final defeat to Spurs, is convinced that will be a crucial factor in the decisive final weeks of the campaign.

"The confidence is high and we've got all our players fit. It's the first time we've had that in a long time at this club," he said.

"We are ready to build some good form, build an onslaught. It's a great moment for Chelsea."

Success in the Champions League is high on the agenda after three semi-final defeats in four years, but Cole doesn't want his team-mates to concentrate soley on Europe when they are still in contention for the Premier League.

"You can't pick and choose what you go for at this level. A club like Chelsea has to fight for everything.

"We will be eager to get into the last eight and that's it. You can't put your eggs in one basket," he said.

It would be easy for Chelsea to use the bitter memories of semi-final exits against Monaco and then Liverpool twice to fuel their bid to reach May's showpiece in Moscow.

But England winger Cole is concerned that his team-mates will lose their focus if they dwell on past failures.

"It was frustrating at the time. The margins of winning and losing at this level are minimal," said Cole.

"We really need to focus on how we're going to perform against Olympiakos and not remember how disappointing it was to lose.

"It's a massive game in it's own right on Wednesday and we need to focus on that, not remembering the close calls we've had in the past.

"We've all experienced these games before. We know what we need to do to win the game. It's just about applying ourselves right and being aggressive from the start of the game."

Cole is far from assured of a regular place in Avram Grant's starting line-up, but he has no intention of rocking the boat.

"For me, my job is to play for Chelsea when selected and play as well as I can," he said.

"I don't pay attention to any of the drama surrounding this football club. My job is to perform as well as I can and that's what I'll do.

"I think that applies for every big club, Man Utd, Arsenal, all the top clubs in England have big players left out. As footballers you are responsible for one thing and one thing only and that's your performance."
