MATTERSBURG, Apr 12 (SW) - Rapid Wien are close to winning this year's T-Mobile Bundesliga in Austria, after a surprising defeat for Red Bull Salzburg at SV Mattersburg.

With goals from Hofmann and Hoffer, Rapid had already beaten Austria Karnten 2-1 on Friday and increased the pressure on main rivals Salzburg.

Red Bull knew that a win would keep them at only one point from Rapid with two matches to go, but Mattersburg had different plans.

Pöllhuber's opening goal for Mattersburg was cancelled out by Janko in the 56th minute, but Sedloski and Atan then gave the home side a more comfortable 3-1 lead.

A goal from Ilic in the 71st minute wasn't enough for Red Bull to fight their back to at least a draw.

Next week, Rapid may secure the championship at home to Rheindorf Altach.
