CARSON, United States (AFP) - The Los Angeles Galaxy said David Beckham will not take part in Sunday's Major League Soccer game against the Colorado Rapids.

After evaluating Beckham's condition following Thursday's 3-0 loss to Chivas, Los Angeles coach Frank Yallop decided to rest the midfielder for the next match.

Beckham, who participated in a friendly against Germany in his native England on Wednesday, played the entire 90 minutes against Chivas, grimacing in pain for much of the match and leaving the field limping.

Beckham, who was on the receiving end of a high tackle by Chivas' Jesse Marsch in Thursday's game, has been nursing an ankle injury for quite some time.
