Liverpool to meet with Argentinean defender

LIVERPOOL, Feb 10 (SW) – Liverpool will meet with Banfield defender Gabriel Paletta with a view to a move at the end of the season.

“Paletta will travel to England to discuss terms with Liverpool club executives,” said a statement on the Banfield website.

“He will travel on Sunday after the game against River Plate.

“The English club want him to undergo a medical before discussing personal terms.”

Club President Carlos Portell has admitted that negotiations are at and advanced stage and hopes that a deal can be struck before the end of the weekend.

“The discussions are very advanced,” confirmed Portell.

“The only remaining things to be sorted are the minor details but I don't think they will be a problem.

“God willing, we will have everything sorted out before the end of the weekend.”

The 20-year-old defender is also hoping that the move will go through, saying it would be a great move for his development.

“It would be a great opportunity. It would be a good move for the club as well as for me.”

The youngster first rose to prominence at the Under-20 World Cup last year, helping the Argentineans to victory.
