STOCKHOLM, Oct 11 (SW) – For tonight’s UEFA Euro 2008 qualifier against Iceland in Reykjavík, Niclas Alexandersson will captain the side.

This move comes with the calf muscle injury that normal captain, Arsenal’s Fredrik Ljungberg picked up on Saturday against Spain.

Sweden’s usual stand – in captain, FC Copenhagen’s Tobias Linderoth is also unavailable as his wife is expecting a baby.

IFK Gothenburg’s Alexandersson who is 34 years old has played in the English Premier League for both Everton and West Ham United.
