PARIS, Aug 13 (SW) - Paris St. Germain made in three wins from three to start the Ligue 1 season on Saturday, recording a 2-0 victory over Toulouse at the Parc des Princes.
Toulouse went down to ten men just after the half-hour when Bryan Bergougnoux was dismissed for a dangerous foul on PSG striker Bonaventure Kalou and Pauleta made the visitors pay for it just before the break when he struck from spot on to give PSG the lead. Pauleta took advantage of an error in the Toulouse defense to give the capital city club a 2-0 on 62 minutes, his second goal of the match, extending the home side's 100% record. Nice - Sochaux 1-2 Sochaux prevailed in what turned out to be a hot-tempered contest on the south coast of France, both teams finishing with men sent off and crowd trouble highlighting the night. Sammy Traoré gave Nice the lead in the 44th minute and Sochaux were reduced to ten men on 55 minutes when João Miranda was sent off for his second bookable offense of the match. Tempers began to flare in the 71st minute when referee Patrick Lhermite dismissed Nice's Florent Balmont for a foul in the area, which was quite questionable, resulting in a penalty for Sochaux. Fans began to go crazy, hurling objects onto the pitch as Araujo Ilan tried to step up to take the penalty. Lhermite suspended the match and sent the players to the dressing rooms to allow things to cool off for a few minutes. When the match resumed, Ilan converted the spot kick and then found himself put in one-on-one against Nice goalkeeper Damien Grégorini. Ilan flicked the ball past the goalkeeper and into the net for a 2-1 lead. Nice almost got their due seven minutes from the end when Lhermite awarded a penalty to the home side when Sébastien Roudet went down in the area, but after conferring with his assistant, Lhermite instead booked Roudet for simulation and awarded a free kick to Sochaux. With three minutes to play, Sochaux were reduced to nine players when substitute Rabiu Afolabi was dismissed by Lhermite for a dangerous foul. Nancy - Lens 1-2 Nancy are still without a win in their top-flight campaign after a 2-1 loss to Lens at the Marcel-Picot stadium. Alou Diarra put Lens in front on 14 minutes when he headed home a corner kick and his side were in front by two just six minutes later as Aruna Dindane scored to make it 2-0. Mosef Zerka pulled Nancy within a goal with his side's first goal of the season, but it was not enough as they fell to defeat at home. Nantes - Ajaccio 0-2 Nantes also had a chance to make it three wins in three games, but they were stopped in a big way, falling 2-0 at home to Ajaccio. The visitors went in front on 56 minute when Edson gave them the lead and Romain Rocchi doubled the advantage in the 72nd minute to ensure a big three points away from home for Ajaccio. It was Ajaccio's first win of the year after opening the season with back-to-back draws. Lille - Troyes 1-2 Troyes got their first win back in the top flight as they defeated Lille away from home, the hosts unable to produce the comeback magic that saved them in their opening matches. Benjamin Nivet put Troyes in front just two minutes in from the penalty spot and Sébastien Dallet doubled the lead just short of the interval to put the home side in a big hole. Mathieu Débuchy pulled a goal back for Lille in the 67th minute but they could get no closer and the Champions League participants fell to their first defeat of the new season. Le Mans - Rennes 4-0 Le Mans also got their first win after promotion, cruising to an emphatic four-goal win over Rennes at the Léon-Bollée stadium. Le Mans were awarded a penalty in the eighth minute when Olivier Monterubbio was sent off for a deliberate handball on the line and they converted as Vinicius De Melo stuffed home the spot kick. De Melo struck again in the 32nd minute converting a pass from Daisuke Matsui before Chiguy Lucau and Ibrahima Bangoura added second-half goals to further torture Rennes who are yet to score in three games this year whilst allowing eight goals. Auxerre - Bordeaux 1-0 Bordeaux also failed in their bid to remain perfect so far this season as they dropped a 1-0 decision to Auxerre at the Abbé-Deschamps stadium. The match was decided in the 36th minute when Luigi Pieroni lobbed the ball into the right-hand side of the net past goalkeeper Ulrich Ramé to give Jacques Santini's side a nice win. Saint-Etienne - Metz 2-0 Frédéric Piquionne's doubled lifted St. Etienne to a two-goal victory over Metz at home on Saturday, their first win of the season after two draws. Piqiuonne put the home side in front on 26 minutes when he headed home a cross by Fousseiny Diawara and he doubled the lead six minutes later converting a pass from Pascal Feindouno.
